AMENDMENT OF ELECTRICITY SUPPLY BY-LAW

Section 152, 162 and Schedules 4 and 5 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 read with Section 13 of the Municipal Systems Act, 32 of 2000 (as amended), mandates municipalities to formulate and adopt bylaws responsive electricity supply. The Greater Kokstad Municipality is affording residents of Kokstad and all stakeholders an opportunity to view and comment on the draft Electricity Supply Bylaw before it is considered for adoption by the Municipal Council. Written representation must be directed to the Municipal Manager via; Hand Delivery at 75 Hope Street, Kokstad, Postal at P O Box 8, Kokstad 4700, or/and emails to sipho.zwane@kokstad.gov.za or alternatively godfrey.gwagwa@kokstad.gov.za. This draft Bylaw is open for inspection from the date of publication of notice until adoption. Comments must be submitted not later than 16h30 on Monday, 25 August 2025, comments received after this date will not be considered. Copies of the draft Bylaw are also available for perusal at municipal libraries and the municipal offices (main building) during normal office hours. The draft Bylaw is also published and available for download on the municipal website at www.kokstad.gov.za Persons requiring assistance in perusing, understanding and commenting on this Bylaw can be assisted through appointment via the official responsible for Electricity Department, Ms N. ANNUAL RATES DISCOUNT 2025/2026

Pay your annual rates on or before 30 September 2025 and enjoy a 10% rate reduction. This initiative is designed to ease the financial burden on our valued ratepayers while ensuring that the municipality can strengthen and expand essential services such as infrastructure maintenance, waste management, community development, and other critical service delivery initiatives. We strongly encourage all residents to take advantage of this opportunity to remain up to date with their accounts while directly contributing to the continued improvement of services across Greater Kokstad.
