Upcoming artist Lungisa ‘Lmgee’ Mbimbi.

WHAT started small as a means to entertain people on the streets finally paid off for the KwaBhaca (Mount Frere) resident Lungisa ‘Lmgee’ Mbimbi (21).

Mbimbi sings afro-pop music.

His music career started when he performed on the streets on KwaBhaca last year, to entertain people and shoot videos for social media content.

But the support he received from his followers resulted in him taking his talent to a higher level of performing at events.

However, his ambition when he completed matric was not to become an artist.

“As I was still navigating my next move after matric last year, I fell in love with music and people supported me. I strongly believe that music is my calling because people love and support my music,” he said.

He bought a guitar to back up his unique sound. Since then, he has been performing at local schools and gatherings.

“I believe that music has the power to heal the world,” he said, adding that his music is influenced by the late Zahara, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who died in 2023.

His mission is to release his debut song before the end of the year. He can be found on TikTok @Lmgee and Facebook @Lungisa Lmgee Mbimbi.
